The Dawson Creek RCMP hosted their regimental dinner and fundraiser on Saturday evening, including a send-off for the Tour de North riders taking part in the Cops for Cancer event. The night was filled with laughs and tears, as Sgt. Scott West went through traditions of a regimental dinner, and told tales of how he evaded his capture three times during the Jail 'N' Bail event in Dawson Creek. Special guest speaker and cancer survivor Colin Gardiner gave a heart-felt speech near the end of the evening, going into detail about his visit to Camp Goodtimes and what each of the beads around his neck represented. His final message of hope to finding a cure for cancer so that no more children would have to suffer the disease granted him a standing ovation with the entire room.
