A local gun store is putting up a $1,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest of individuals alleged to be responsible for stealing some rifles from the location.
There was a break-in at Corlane Sporting Goods in Dawson Creek sometime between the store's closing time on Nov. 17 and 11 a.m. on Nov. 18, according to RCMP. During that time, rifles were stolen from the store.
Police have not said how many rifles were stolen, the worth of the rifles, nor could they give any type of description about the individuals they believe may have been responsible.
However, Tim Schram, a co-owner of the store, said that his store has is offering $1000 in the hopes of gathering information that could lead to the alleged assailant's arrest.
“We are offering a reward, I want that known,” he said.
“It's not my world, I don't deal with this very often.”
He believes the alleged individuals gained access through the roof at around 3 a.m. Once in the store, they stole a variety of rifles and shotguns, but Schram would not say how many were stolen or how much they were worth. He said that no handguns were stolen in the robbery.
Schram added that he could not give more information about this incident because he did not want to impede the investigation.
Calls to Dawson Creek RCMP asking for information about the incident were not returned as of press time.
Schram's store offers a wide range of rifles, from regular hunting rifles to more advanced military style rifles.
Anyone with information about the alleged theft is asked to call the Dawson Creek RCMP at 250-784-3700 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
