A Dawson Creek RCMP officer investigates a blue Mazda sedan near 92nd Avenue and Ravine Drive on Tuesday.

A handgun was recovered by police officers after it was used in Dawson Creek, and four individuals are in custody.

Police investigated a firearm complaint around 95th Avenue and 9th Street at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Dawson Creek RCMP Cst. Greg Hall. Police cruisers also blocked off portions of streets in the area.

The suspects initially fled the scene before being apprehended.

Hall could not say what the exact nature of the complaint was, given the early stages of the investigation. However, he confirmed that no one was injured.

Police were able to obtain the individuals alleged to have been involved in the complaint, and Hall said they are currently in custody.

"The firearm reportedly utilized was recovered," he said.

Some police officers were also seen investigating a blue Mazda Protégé nearby at 92nd Avenue and Ravine Drive.

However, Hall said that given the early nature of the investigation, he could not confirm or deny if that car was in anyway involved.

Police are encouraging anyone who was in the area of 95th Avenue and 9th Street with any information they feel is pertinent to the investigation to call their detachment at 250-784-3700.

Information can also be given anonymously as well to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-242-8477 (TIPS).
