Alleged gun traffickers face court
William Stodalka

Brenda Mathias, a co-owner of Corlane's Sporting Goods, looks at one of her store's rifles on Wednesday. Individuals accused of stealing guns from the store had their first day in court on Wednesday.

Two of the men arrested for allegedly stealing guns from Corlane's Sporting Goods in Dawson Creek had their first day in court on Wednesday.

Andrew Hardy, 25, and Bradley Stothard, 24, went to court in Grande Prairie for gun trafficking charges.

No judgment was handed down in court. They opted to reserve their election, which the court can do if the accused do not have a lawyer. Their next court date is set for Jan. 16.

RCMP confirmed earlier that 10 of these firearms recovered were allegedly stolen from Dawson Creek. Tim Schram, the owner of Corlane's, earlier said that the firearms allegedly stolen from his store included a variety of shotguns and rifles.

Stothard, a Grande Prairie man, is facing 71 charges, including numerous firearms trafficking offences, possession of stolen property, and breaching conditions.

Hardy, 25, also from Grande Prairie, is facing 41 charges including numerous firearms trafficking offences.
