A 32-year-old man has died after falling off a drilling rig 40 km east of Dawson Creek on Thursday.
The man, an employee of Calmena Energy Services, was working on the rig to drill a surface hole on a Birchcliff Energy lease.
Rig operations were immediately suspended, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety is conducting an investigation into the matter.
According to the Grande Prairie Daily-Herald Tribune, the Spirit River RCMP, who were called into investigate the incident, have concluded their investigation by saying there was no criminal intent.
The family of the deceased man has been notified by the RCMP, Calmena said.
